Make Cards & Support Our Troops!!

I'm sure many of you as I did today, received an e-mail from the Scrapbook Trends, Cards & Paper Trends group, asking for our support and input to create cards that the men and women serving our country can use to stay in touch with their loved ones during their difficult time away from their loved ones.  Please join me in committing to making at least 3 cards to send to this very good cause.  I'd love to know how many of your will add yourselves to this commitment, so please send us a note and let us know "you're in"!

Kim

Here is the e-mail (copied with permission) that I received:

As we celebrate our country’s freedom, it is natural to think about our service men and women and the sacrifice they make for us. But here is an opportunity to put those feelings into action and do something for them.

Last year, Northridge Media launched “Cards for Troops”, the idea of Tina Gonzales, whose husband, Brad, was serving in Iraq. Brad had expressed the desire to be able to send nice cards back to his family, and Tina knew at once that was something she could do for the soldiers overseas. The project was announced last fall in Scrapbook Trends, Cards and Paper Trends and it wasn’t long before cards were coming into our offices in box loads. Tina says:

“I had captains and officers email me amazing thank yous for the cards, saying how much it meant to get cards to send back home to the families they are missing. The word has spread so much in Iraq that many now watch and wait for the arrival of more cards. Even the post office personnel want to peek inside the boxes to see the fun cards and how creative people get. They can tell how much love goes into them.

This experience has shown me that there are people who are very willing to give of their time and talents. Regardless of their feelings about the war, they want to support our country’s troops. It has touched my heart forever. These cards were made with love for people they don’t even know or will never meet. I would like everyone to know how much it means to get a card on your birthday from your husband in Iraq—it is priceless. The birthday card I received from Brad, along with his message, means more than any present and I’ll keep it always.”

We want to express our sincere appreciation to the wonderful people who supported our troops last year by making cards. Our goal was to send 5,000 cards and we not only met that goal, but exceeded it by sending over 7,000 cards to men and women on active duty. And this was due to our wonderful readers who took the time to create cards. We also had several stores who sponsored card-making days dedicated to Cards for Troops. We have had countless notes of appreciation from service men and women who were very touched by these cards. We have also received many requests for more cards, so we invite you to once again join us in creating cards for our troops. Please send your cards for all occasions (with envelopes) to our new address:
